@Caitlin – love this – scrambling is planning, it’s just planning at the very last minute. Very few people are truly taking life absolutely as it comes. It’s just a question of when you plan, and often, a little bit farther ahead is wise.

I plan so I can let things go and not worry about them, but things change and I adapt (and there is open space for spontaneity, but I think spontaneity can also be thought of as…last-minute planning). Much like you can’t revise a first draft if there isn’t one, you can’t adapt plans if there aren’t any and it’s just a scramble (which, again, is still planning, just at the very last minute). It’s easier for me to let go and live in the moment if I’m not worried about the future.

In this scenario, I will typically reach out to this person and see if he/she replies. If he/she does, I will then go on discussing in detail with him/her on “The future is unknowable”. If he/she doesn’t, however, I’ll need to refer to this blog post that you wrote to comprehend “The future is unknowable”, Ms. Laura Vanderkam.
In the meantime, yes, I do think I will be around a year from now.
