@Monica – scrapbooks are a great way to recall memories! In general in life I think we should be better about creating artifacts that we can then look back on. People take tons of pictures, but organizing and printing them and making them worth looking at is a much different story.

I find it helps me be more focused on what I choosing to do with my time. It’s fairly rough at times and I miss stuff but I can look back and get a pretty good idea of what I have done. I am a photographer and scrapbooker. Working on our family’s scrapbooks is a constant reminder of how much we do together. My youngest kid just left for college but I feel like I have spent some quality time with them and quality family time despite the fact that they have their own lives and aren’t around all of the time. Tracking time reminds me that I have time to do things, the question is how do I want to use that time.

Whenever I track my time I draw a line from 7:45am to 6:00 pm and say gone at work. Maybe it’s because I’m a nurse and I have little control over what each day will bring. I’m more interested in what I’m doing on my off hours and whether or not I’m making the most of my free time in the mornings, evenings and weekends.

@Caitlin – definitely true on the restaurant front. It’s also easier to get a babysitter.

It is harder to tackle a big home project on a weeknight, but you can do one step or prep for something. It’s arguably easier to go out to dinner for fun on a weeknight because restaurants tend to be less busy.
