We are partnering with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to bring web development courses and career services to UTC’s Center for Professional Education, with the ultimate goal of helping students launch fulfilling careers in technology.
UTC will host Thinkful’s full-stack flex course, a flexible, online program built to launch full-stack engineering careers in six months. Students will learn development fundamentals including HTML, CSS, APIs, GitHub, Node.js, React, data structures and algorithms. They will have access to one-on-one mentorship and a full-time support team as well as our career services training and extensive hiring network. After completing the program, students are issued a certificate from the UTC Center for Professional Education and are eligible for our job guarantee, a 100 percent tuition refund if they are not offered a qualifying position within six months of graduation. They also retain lifetime access to the curriculum.
Chattanooga has everything we’re looking for: a growing startup scene, an engaged tech community and fair work-life balance. With the city’s openness to tech innovation, it was a no-brainer to partner with UTC.
Job Ready in Six Months
UTC students will acquire the necessary skills to meet the local demand for web and software development workers. As more companies plant roots in Chattanooga, there is an opportunity to establish the Gig City as a growing tech hub in the South. On any given day, a quick search on ZipRecruiter shows plenty of openings for full-stack web developer jobs in the Chattanooga area, with an average salary of $102,701 per year.
The UTC/Thinkful program gives students the unique opportunity to transition into higher-paying, more rewarding, and fulfilling technology jobs that have the potential to raise graduates’ standards of living. On average, Thinkful graduates increase their annual incomes by more than $19k with more than 413 Thinkful graduates landing highly-competitive tech jobs in the last year alone.
“Our partnership with Thinkful creates opportunities for economic growth,” said John Freeze, Director of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Center for Professional Education. “Students will gain in-demand and highly-sought skills opening doors for career advancement while businesses benefit from a locally-sourced talent pipeline. As the digital economy continues to evolve, our mission is to make sure companies and individuals remain competitive.”
Thinkful’s Growth
With 22 tech communities under our belt, we strategically aim to have a presence in every emerging tech hub across the United States. As a component of our long-term growth trajectory, university-sponsored programs help expand our hiring network and gives Thinkful graduates more opportunities to leverage career support services and establish career roots.
Our partnership with UTC comes on the heels of our recent partnerships with the University of San Diego and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. We’re thrilled to be a part of the UTC community for years to come.
